JUSTICE in our HEARTS

Dreams unwind,
Lose my mind.
Love never again to find,
Life's unkind.
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

GREATNESS

To bear up under loss,
To fight the bitterness of defeat
And the weakness of grief,
To be victor over anger,
To smile when tears are close,
To go on when it would seem good to die,
To look up with unquenchable faith in something evermore.
That is what any man can do,

And so be GREAT…my family.

THE LOVE OF A FAMILY
"You know, so much of the time,

we're just lost.

We say "Please, God, tell us what is right,

tell us what is true.

I mean, there is no justice.

The rich win, the poor are powerless.

We become tired of hearing people lie.

And after a time we become dead...

A little dead.

We think of ourselves... as victims.
And we become victims. We become...we become weak.
We doubt ourselves, we doubt our beliefs.
We doubt our institutions.
And we doubt the law.
But today you are the law.

Not some book, not the lawyers.
Not a marble statue, or the trappings of the court.

See, those are just symbols of our desire to be just.
They are... they are, in fact, a prayer.
I mean, a fervent and a frightened prayer.

In my religion they say,
"Act as if ye had faith,
and faith will be given to you.

" If we are to have faith in justice,
we need only to believe in ourselves,
and act with justice.
See, I believe there is

in our hearts."
David Mamet

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

"Paddy's Bar" - Rose Street, Edinburgh -

Patrick James Crossan

One of the great HEARTS and one of my eight great-uncles.

The legend went...
"He could pass a ball, but never pass a mirror..."

World War I
Another member of the team, 22 year old Paddy Crossan,
was so badly injured that his right leg was labeled for amputation.

He pleaded with the German surgeon not to operate.
He told him: "I need my legs - I'm a footballer."
The surgeon agreed to his request
and managed to save his leg.

Sorrow's Journey

"His soul swooned slowly
as he heard the snow falling faintly
through the universe and faintly falling,
like the descent of their last end,
upon all the living and the dead."

"The Dead"
James Joyce

THIS TOWN

“The greatness comes not when things go always right for you.
But the greatness comes when you're really tested,
when you take some knocks, some disappointments,
when sadness truly comes.
Because only if you've been in the deepest valley
can you ever know how magnificent it is
to be on the highest mountain.”

Richard Nixon
Resignation on August 8, 1974 as 37th president of US (1913 - 1994)
